-
- How to create a character.
-
- You start with 100 points. Roll 2d10. Add the total to
- the 100 points. If you roll doubles, roll again and add that
- to the total. Keep rolling until you stop rolling doubles.
-
- For instance, you start with 100 points, you roll 2d10 and
- come up with double fives. Add the ten points to the 100 and
- roll again, you roll a five and a seven. Add the 12 to the
- 110, you now have 122 points to divide amongst your stats.
-
- Divide your total points among the six stats as you wish.
- However, you cannot give more than 25 points to Appearance,
- Hardiness, Intuitiveness, or Prowness. You may give any
- amount to Education and Wealth.
-
- After dividing your points, roll on the race table. You
- may roll twice and pick either of the rolls. If you like
- neither, you may opt to be human. Make any adjustments
- necessary to your stats.
-
- If you are human or half-human, do the following:
-
- Roll on the Legitimacy Table.
-
- Roll for the Apprenticeship Table. You have a 25% chance
- of having been partially trained in a prior skill.
-
- Roll for the Military Table. You have a 25% chance of
- having been in the military and having been trained in a
- military skill.
-
- Characters of any race may roll on the Specials Table (if
- the GM allows these skills)
-
- Characters of any race may roll on the Relationships Table
- if they so desire.
-
-
- After rolling up all of the above, it's time to generate your character.
-
- Let's use the example of my first character:
-
- To my base of 100 I rolled double fives and a five
- and seven for a total of 122 points.
-
- These were my division decisions:
-
- AP: 5 HA: 10 IN: 25 PR: 20 ED: 32 WE: 30
-
- I rolled on the race table:
-
- A 76 for Centaur, and a 94 for Wolfen.
-
- I chose Wolfen. Which gave me a +10 Hardiness adjustment.
-
- My character now looks like this:
-
- AP: 5 HA: 20 IN: 25 PR: 20 ED: 32 WE: 30
-
- I rolled a 54 for a prior skill chance (no prior skills)
-
- I rolled a 65 on the Specials Table for a natural
- invisibility to lower undead.
-
- I decided that I want my character to have a Scrupulous
- Personality.
-
- Now comes the decisions for my characters skills.
-
- I decided that I wanted to be a Battle Mage, but I also
- wanted to be able to Heal. I chose Yellow Guild (Fire & Air
- at 6 ED points), Red (Bone & Blood at 5 ED points), and
- Orange (Summoning & Illusions at 3 ED points)
-
- For Weapon skills, I chose Sabre at 4 ED points (2d10 & +2
- PR adj.), and Long Bow at 5 ED points (1d10+8 Far range)
-
- For non-weapon skills, I chose:
-
- Meditation (1 ED point)
- Tantrics (1 ED points)
- Alertness (2 ED points)
- Land Riding (1 ED points)
- Reading/Writing (1 ED point)
- Hand-to-Hand (3 ED point)
-
-
- Between my Guild points (14), my Weapon Skills (9) and my
- non-weapon skills (9), I equalled my initial 32 ED points of
- training.
-
- From my initial Wealth Points I deducted 3 (1 WE for each
- guild) for a balance of 27 WE (or 270 sm).
-
- I then needed to purchase equipment and supplies. I chose:
-
- Hard Leather Suit 35 sm
- Hard Leather Boots 8 sm
- Soft Leather Cloak 8 sm
- Soft Leather Headgear 2 sm
-
- Total Cost 53 sm (6 WE)
-
-
- So. At the end, this is what my character looks like.
-
- Name: Maratek Race: Wolfen AP: 5 PR: 20
- Align: Scrupulous HGT: 7' 2" HA: 20 ED: 0
- Diety: (none) WGT: 270# IN: 25 WE: 21
-
- HTK: 20
-
- Racial Abilities: (none)
-
- SKILL BASE + EDUC + EXP = SUCCESS %
-
- Magic - Yellow 25 + 60 + 0 = 85
- Magic - Red 25 + 50 + 0 = 75
- Magic - Orange 25 + 30 + 0 = 55
-
- Sabre 20 + 40 + 0 = 60
- Long Bow 20 + 50 + 0 = 70
- Hand-to-Hand 20 + 30 + 0 = 50
-
- Meditation (NL) 1
- Tantrics 20 + 20 + 0 = 40
- Alertness 25 + 20 + 0 = 45
- Reading/Writing 25 + 10 + 0 = 35
-
- Riding, Land-Based 20 + 10 + 0 = 30
-
- I hope this guide helps you through what can be a daunting
- aspect of generating a character for the first time under the
- OERTH system.
